For a century, LSC has stood beside the people who protect Australia, security professionals, the ones doing the work every day to make our homes, businesses, and communities safer.
It started in 1926 after Aubrey Johnson, 'The Pioneer', returned from World War I and opened A.F. Johnson & Co.
Raised in the family hardware store, Aubrey had the trade in his blood delivering goods by billy cart after school.
His new ironmongery included a locksmithing service and he quickly recognised a growing demand for quality security products.
He sourced the best from around the world—including Australia’s first code-cutting machines for cylinder keys.
In the late 1940s, his son Stuart, 'The Builder', joined the business and Locksmith's Supply Company, or “Locky Supplies,” was born.
After the war, Aubrey and Stuart felt a renewed drive to build something meaningful.
Stuart hit the road, growing the business through wholesale and forging relationships with customers one by one.
LSC embraced air travel early to speed up delivery and Stuart’s overseas trips in the ’60s and ’70s secured key partnerships across Europe and the U.S.
Stuart co-founded the Master Locksmiths Association of Australia in 1969 helped create the country’s first locksmithing apprenticeship and raised the standing of the trade.
In the 1980s, Stuart’s son Mark, 'The Innovator', stepped in expanding nationally, launching in New Zealand, and continuing the family’s commitment to customers.
As the industry shifted, Mark led the move into electronic security.
In 2012, LSC opened a 5,000-square-metre high-tech distribution centre, launched TechED, a dedicated training hub for locksmiths, and invested in local, Aussie-made production.
We rebranded in 2014 and launched the ‘Australia’s Best Young Locksmith’ Competition.
Today, with 200+ staff, global partners, and an online marketplace, LSC remains family-led and customer-focused.
Three generations. A century of change. One mission that’s never wavered: partnering with the people who protect what matters.
