  • Australia's Best Young Locksmith 2024 | First Finalist Announced

coast to country locksmiths | caboolture, qld

Please provide a short personal biography about yourself.

I started my locksmithing journey at Noosa Lock Service in 2018 as a new apprentice. My next-door neighbour knew a locksmith looking for an apprentice, and I thought it would be a great fit for me.

After completing my apprenticeship in Noosa, I decided to start my own business in the Moreton Bay Region. It has been both challenging and rewarding, and I love being able to serve my local community.

I enjoy all aspects of locksmithing but specialise in residential and commercial services, including creating master key systems, hardware installations, and lock maintenance. The best part of my job is that every day is different, and I'm always faced with new challenges that keep me motivated.

What are some of the skills & abilities necessary for someone to succeed as a locksmith?

In my experience there are many skills required to becoming a locksmith. With such a large variety of tasks that clients need solutions for, a wide range of skills will help with keeping clients happy. Some of the abilities that I think are most important are:

• Problem-Solving Skills
• Attention to Detail
• Patience
• Customer Service Skills
• Integrity and Trustworthiness
• Time Management

What key issues do you think will affect the locksmith industry in the coming decade? And how do you think these should be approached?

The key issues we often face & think are going to continue are:

1. Dodgy Locksmiths and Mandatory licencing We are constantly hearing stories of people being scammed by “$45 locksmiths” that quote a low price and then charge hundreds and even thousands for low quality work. This could be fixed by shutting down these false locksmiths and enforcing security licencing.

2. Economic Factors The current economic environment is affecting consumer spending on locksmith services and security products.

3. Consumer Awareness and Education There is a lack of consumer awareness about the importance of using a professional locksmith service. We are always trying to promote the locksmith trade at local events and on social media. We have found this is to be the best way to inform the public of our trade.

Tell us why you should be Australia's Best Young Locksmith.

I consider my combination of technical expertise, a customer first approach, and big passion for the locksmithing community to be a great asset. I believe I express the potential of Australia’s best young locksmith. I am excited about the future and look forward to continuing to serve my local community with quality security solutions & integrity.
